About the winery

In 1838 two ships are sailing bound for Australia, aboard the Zebra is Samuel Johann Nietschke and on the Prince George is Johann Georg Kalleske. They are both pioneering grapegrowing families who make the Barossa their new home. Now step forward 130 years in time to 1968 and these two families join when John Kalleske marries Lorraine Nietschke. Their sons Tony, Kym and Troy run the vineyard and the more recently established winery.

However it was Lorraine’s forebears who originally made wine well before the current Kalleske boys decided to try their hand. The Nietschke family established a winery on the banks of the Jacob’s Creek soon after they planted vines in the 1840’s.

To honour Lorraine’s lineage and the inspiration they have bestowed these wines proudly bear the Nietschke name.

Nietschke wines are sourced from a variety of traditionally and sustainably farmed vineyards from across the Barossa Valley.

About the winery

Spinifex Wines owners and operators, Peter Schell and Magali Gely, have had a home in the Barossa Valley for over twenty years and hold a strong commitment to and passion for the Barossa. They also have a strong French connection, both physically and philosophically. Magali's family, who up until recently were vignerons with a long lineage in Lunel, near Montpellier, still live in south France, and over the last ten years Peter has worked six French vintages, in Provence, the Languedoc, Bordeaux and Burgundy.

Time spent in the south of France has fuelled their interest in making unique, hand crafted wines with personality, which are generous and honest expressions of the varieties and their provenance. Spinifex Wines grapes are sourced from a group of dedicated growers in both the Barossa and Eden Valleys, taking advantage of the great diversity of the soils and meso-climates of the Barossa to create wines with balance, character, depth of flavour and Barossan generosity.

About the winery

The Curtis Family Vineyards are established just west of the McLaren Vale township. Its vineyards have flourished, and now its sought-after McLaren Vale wines are available on the Australian and export markets.

The story of the Curtis Family Vineyards is about how everything old came new again...of how European immigrants came to Australia, struggled against the odds and then applied old-world values and experience to produce fine wines.

The new faces behind the Curtis Family Vineyards are Mark, Thomas & Jenna Curtis, with the guidance of their father, Claudio Curtis who lives on the vineyard just outside McLaren Vale. The name Curtis is thought to derive from Curtius, a noble and wealthy family of the First and Second Centuries AD, the Roman Empire era originating from the Latinium people.
